“Lord, Whatever It Takes, Make Me Like You!”
You long to serve God with grace and strength, to reflect Christ in every word and action. Yet you find yourself continually struggling to bring that vision to life in your daily walk.
At our very core, every one of us is a “twisted sister” within whom the flesh and spirit battle constantly for control. We are afflicted with spiritual schizophrenia, the disconnect between our “good girl” desire to put Jesus first and our “bad girl” realities that crowd our thoughts and push him out of the way.
In this life-changing book, Joanna Weaver, author of the perennial bestseller, Having a Mary Heart in a Martha World, directs your gaze past your own shortcomings to the God who stands ready, willing, and able to make a new woman out of you. She equips you with biblical insights and practical tools to partner with Christ, inviting him into the hidden places of your soul and giving him full permission to redeem and renovate.
Drawing on the stories of biblical Marys and others whose experience with God transformed their lives, Joanna shows how you can find the hope, healing, wholeness, and joy your heart longs for. Having a Mary Spirit will launch you toward lasting personal transformation–soul-deep change that results in a complete makeover, from the inside out._______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

“Recession-Proof Your Marriage”
Speaker: Cindy Ellington (licensed Marriage and Family Therapist)
Connecting and Communicating through Loss and Anxiety.”
On Sunday, September 27th, Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist, Cindy Ellington gave a marriage seminar entitled, "Recession-Proof Your Marriage." Three main principles from John Gottman she shared to maintain a solid relationship were: 1) Enhance your LOVE map, 2) Nurture your fondness and admiration and 3) Turn toward eachother, instead of away. When it comes to communicating with your spouse, "empathy first, analyze later" and build a strong and loving friendship to enjoy spending time together. Bottom line - LOVE & RESPECT.

Message from Pastor Tarah: Dear friends and family, I wanted to let you know about a dear sister of mine who has HIBM. It is a rare disease that taking over her body. Some of you may have met her at ALC. Just recently, a small group of doctors and patients started ARM, to help raise awareness and to continue to find a cure for this progressive disease. They have been working on a treatment that could possibly slow down the progression of HIBM but they are in great financial need. They have started the $1 campaign to help raise funds, please see the email below and the link to find out more. It has only been a couple of years since they discovered that HIBM is a gene that is found in Koreans and Japanese. If you can, please help.
DOLLAR CAMPAIGN
One minute, one dollar, pass it on.
www.hibm.org (site does not view well in internet explorer. Please view in Firefox or safari)
You can make a REAL difference with very LITTLE money and very LITTLE time. We're asking for two things: give $1 and pass this email onto people you know. We're trying to raise $1,000,000 in 3 months to enable human therapeutic trials to fight HIBM, a debilitating disease. We're asking for two things:
First, go to WEBSITE (www.hibm.org) to donate $1. Second, send this email on to all your friends and family.
In the Internet age, reaching one million people in that amount of time is surely do-able. If you are interested in becoming a bigger influence in this campaign, host your own dollar collecting campaign in your community, church, workplace, among your friends and family and donate what you've collected as one donation.
HIBM (Hereditary Inclusion Body Myopathy) is a progressive and debilitating muscle-wasting disorder caused by a gene defect. It touches those between the ages of 20 and 40 and, although progression is slow, it typically leads to total disability within 10-15 years. Studies suggest that HIBM may be easier to cure than many other disorders or diseases, the only limiting factor is funds.
